Position Overview

The firm is seeking an associate with approximately 4-9 years of recent business litigation experience. This role is well suited for an attorney who is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a diverse caseload efficiently while providing thoughtful, strategic counsel to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed research memoranda
  • Communicate directly with clients to provide legal advice and updates
  • Draft pleadings and other legal documents, including initial filings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement documents, and disclosures
  • Take and defend depositions and engage in fact-finding activities
  • Attend court hearings, ADR proceedings, conferences, and client meetings
  • Represent clients in mediations and settlement conferences
  • Assist with trial preparation and serve as second chair where appropriate
  • Negotiate settlements and case resolutions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable California statutes, rules, and case law
  • Handle administrative and case management responsibilities related to assigned matters

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar admission in good standing
  • Approximately 4-9 years of law firm experience with a focus on business litigation
  • Experience with eDiscovery platforms and legal practice management tools preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel
